Help on learning to play electric bass guitar.?
OK. I recently bought a bass guitar at a garage sale. The problem is I don’t know ANYTHING ABOUT PLAYING IT. I guess my question is what would be the next step? I really don’t have money for lessons.

well a good start would be learning to read bass tabs.
basically the 4 strings are on lines like this
http://www.bassmasta.net/r/rancid/123864.html <—-that is an e.g bass tab
G——————————————this is the thin string
D—————————————–
A—————————————–
E——————————————- this is the fat string
basically if there is a number along on of the lines like this
E—-1–2–3——————— it means that you would pick the string whilst holding the string and changing them in that order at the fret (the frets being the gap between the metal bars on the neck of the bass). its kind of hard to explain
Try this website, it should have some pointers, also try to make friends with other musicians, they can always help you
good luck
